ClassicFlame Flame Effects
The flame effects on this LED electric fireplace heater insert are absolutely stunning. There is an almost infinite (well, close to 300), variety of lighting effects that can be generated. There are two banks of lights, upper and lower. You can set the color combination or have it randomly change colors. You have an option to choose colors of this LED flame effect and the possible colors are blue, orange, orange and blue and the auto-cycle. The fireplace’s LED has 9 uplight and downlight color options which can be customized by users. It has a built-in modern LED flame which looks like a gas burning flame, and this adds more to the ambient and the look of a fireplace. The LED lights draw 14.5 watts and have an estimated life of 50,000 hours
The ‘Vivid Flame adjustable LED light’ has several components, the flickering flames themselves, and the light of the embers and glowing logs, and the LED lights. The height of the flames can be adjusted. There are 5 brightness levels you can cycle through and the OFF. and there are the embers have 2 adjustment settings. You can run the light effects with the glowing logs on or off. With this cool ember feature, the wood glows and varies in the intensity. There is timer built in you can set to turn it off if you fall asleep.
There are 2 types of media included for the foreground crushed glass and white and clear rocks. Of course you can buy and add your own.
ClassicFlame Heater Functions
I believe it is very important that everyone purchasing an electric fireplace heater be aware of the limitations of these units. With very rare exceptions and the ClassicFlame fireplace insert is no exception, an electric fireplace heater is best thought of as a supplemental heat source. Or part of a comprehensive zone heating plan. Quite simply they will not heat your whole house.
The manufacturer states this unit supplies”4,400 BTU heater provides supplemental zone heating for up to 400 square feet.” That room size is a pretty standard claim. Whether it does or doesn’t is highly subjective and the cause for negative comments on any electric fireplace. Your expectations may not be met if you are visualizing a primary heat source for your home. I believe that people who are disappointed in the electric fire box heat function may have slightly unrealistic expectations or did not understand the meaning of the specifications regarding the heating power.
So how much house will it heat? Well in reality, that depends. If you have a closed room such as a bedroom it will heat it pretty well. If it is mounted in an open concept living room with flow through kitchen or dining room the heat effects will be minimal. You may, however be able to lower your thermostat setting a few degrees which will help on overall heating costs. If you are looking primarily for a heater, you may be better served by an infrared space heater. Of course they will not be as cozy and are no fun to look at and cuddle in front of with that special someone.
The fan in the unit forces the heat from the vent which is located in the top, center of the unit. The fan which forces the air out is very quiet. It is not very powerful think of it as a heat circulator rather that a blower.
The front of the unit can get somewhat hot in the area where the heat blows out, but not hot enough to cause a major burn or anything.
If the unit is being operated with heat option off, the front of the unit simply stays at room temperature. The ‘flames’ give off no heat.
The controls light up on screen and disappear when not in use.
There is a hard wired thermostat which is an option to mount on wall, but not necessary. The full function remote control and wall mounted thermostat provide added convenience and makes the unit easy to control. You may hard wire the firebox to a 120V electrical circuit or use the included plug kit for a convenient installation, either way, the remote works the same

Cost Of Operation
The cost of operation is very comparable to other fireplaces in the same class. There is a big difference in cost between operating the fireplace with the flame and heat together and just the flame effect alone.
- Flame Effect = Less than 1¢ per hr
- 4400 BTU’s = 14.7¢ per hr
What does that mean? If you use your unit in high heat mode for 2 hours a day for a month it will bump up your electric bill by about $8.80 per month. In flame effect only mode, same conditions your bill would go up by $.60.

Pros and Cons
The majority of the customers about 62% gave it the highest rating 5 stars and were completely satisfied with the product. All in all, majority of the customers are highly satisfied with the product and they love what they got for the price of this fireplace. A lot of the customers are praising the beautiful look that it has and the ability of customizing the colors and having it on without the heat.
A lot of them mentioned that the installation process was easy, they did not have any problems when it comes to fitting it into their rooms and the dimensions were completely accurate. Many customers said that this product was able to heat up a small family room and it was able to efficiently replace their old fireplaces that they had in their living rooms. So this gives us some idea about the heating ability of this fireplace. It is able to heat up a normal sized room; but if we are talking about anything larger, it would fall short. We would recommend the ClassicFlame Contemporary Built-in Electric Fireplace Insert to our readers.
The average rating on this product is 4.1 out of 5 stars. The majority of the customers are happy with the product but not all of them. There are some complaints and negative feedback. Two customers complained about the loud noise that the heater was making. Both of them contacted the service and they sent them a new heater which was able to be replaced with instructions.
A few of them said that they were not happy with the heating of the fireplace. Some people have the open space concept in their main living space. Any fireplace heater will have little to no effect in that situation. Some people are looking at electric fireplaces as a main source of heat, which is a mistake. This complaint is very common and I believe it is because of unrealistic expectations in the first place.
There were a couple of complaints about dings or scrathes during shipping, but the beauty of shopping through Amazon is that these complaints are quickly made good. Looking at these complaints and negative feedback we can see that majority of them are fixable.
But the one thing that cannot be replaced or fixed is the heating ability of this fireplace. Minority of customers complained that the fireplace could not heat up a huge living room, now it all comes down to the sizes of their living rooms.
In conclusion we would recommend this fireplace to our readers, especially if you are looking for great visual flame effects. this electric fireplace insert excels at that. We really think this is an outstanding value for those looking for cool visual effects and to have the ability to generate lots of different moods and ambiance.
We hope you enjoyed our ClassicFlame 36″ Contemporary Built-in Electric Fireplace Insert 36EB111-GRC review
